Happy New Year!
The close of 2017 and welcoming of 2018 was completely different for us.
The first big change was, of course, our daughter. This year we were celebrating with a new member of the family. Second, we were not home, not even the State. You see, an opportunity came along, and we decided to take a road trip to Massachusetts and we live in Virginia. Third, which is like the previous one, we were in a hotel. Finally, we were with my parents and my younger brother. All this combined led to a new years eve day full of emotions, cold, adrenaline, no rest, and a whole lot more cold weather.
Our last day of the year started with a good hotel breakfast and a lot of running around while getting ready to attend the football game. Once we finally got in the car we made our way to the stadium. The boys went into the game and us girls made our way to a restaurant right outside the stadium. After the game, we all went to dinner and made our way back to the hotel. Once there, we warmed up in front of the fireplace and went upstairs to watch New York City’s ball drop. Well, the TV ended up watching us. The adrenaline that had kept us going ran off and while putting our daughter to sleep I fell asleep, then my brother, and soon after it was my husband- or so I’m told. My parents came upstairs to a room full of sleepy heads who received the New Year cozied up in bed, resting.
That night, I laid down trusting that my strength would be renewed and with Faith that God is in control. I now realize I took to heart when Psalm 37 says to be still. Yes, I was tired, but I decided to lay down beside my daughter and allow myself to rest in the Lord. The year 2018 is in God’s hands, He knows what is going to happen. We entered the year trusting God and resting in Him. And just a week in it has proven to be worth it.
I now challenge you. Trust in God! Be still and know that He will take care of you because He is King. Embrace this new year, a new opportunity, and rest in Him.
Be still before the Lord; wait patiently for Him and entrust yourself to Him;
Do not fret (whine, agonize) because of him who prospers in his way,
Because of the man who carries out wicked schemes. Psalm 37: 7 (AMP)
